If you have been in an accident, and possibly will have payments made over time, or a cash option for structured settlements, which would you choose? My father fell recently in a store, due to some negligence in safety on the store's part. If he gets a settlement, I am not sure if he would take payments, or a lump sum.
My husband and I a few years ago, were involved in a long drawn out lawsuit, but, eventually, we won. We did get a cash lump sum in the end, and we used that to pay off many of our bills, and things.
It was so nice to have that cash, and not have to worry about small payments over time. Everyone, and every situation is different, so, maybe in some cases, getting monthly payments, if it was now would be great, since we could count on that money each month, over a length of time.
Annuity payments are nice, and cash for settlement is nice, you just have to decide if you want cash over time, or lump sum cash for annuity payments.
Not everyone is sure what to do, so, speak to someone who knows about settlements to decide what you should do.
If you have a friendly lawyer friend, talk to them and see what you should do, if something bad happened, and you got hurt.
Always make sure to speak to an attorney, if you are hurt in an accident, or due to someone's negligence. Either way, you want to make sure and have good legal advice in these situations. They may also be able to advice you about a good adviser in your settlement, if it goes that far.
No, I am not saying, the least little thing happens, go sue everyone, but, if you are hurt, and cant work, like the commercial goes, you are going to need help, and a way to pay the bills.
If it was me, and I was hurt, my family would really need some help, since I have a young son I take care of all day, and my husband works, but, is handicapped, and needs help eating, and cant cook, and so forth.
Every situation is different, and in these situations are the places that people need help with their everyday lives, and doing things. With enough money, you can get help with things and this makes life easier. Louis Zhang, Sellstructuredsettlementinc dot com
